Dharmaville
Yeah its corny, its cool and its Dharmaville. You have to admit the place was pretty rockin for the 70s and the homes were nice. Very utopian that the janitor and the head honcho share the same type of place. A lot happenned in dharmaville. It was the place where the Dharma initiative setup and worked at. It was also the place that the others moved into once they completely eraticated the Dharma folks. They even setup those crazy sound force fields to keep everyone out. I guess it worked. I also like the shirts that everyone in Dharmaville got to wear. Worker Dude, Boss Man etc. If you had a Dharma shirt what would it say? If you were a prostitute in Dharmaville what would it say?
Anyway, I digress. Dharmaville, love it.

The Island
What on or off of Earth is this place? It disappears, no one can find it and it heals people. Yes the Island is a giant mystery and we’re all waiting for the end of this season to know more. It seems as though every time a question gets answered 2 more pop up. What we do know so far is that there are a group of people simply known as the others that speak Latin and have lived on the Island for a really long time. They have different leaders and an advisor named Richard.
Some French people showed up, died and were survived by a woman named Ruso who had her baby stolen by an other (Benjamin Linus).
A group called the Dharma initiative lived on the Island during the 70’s and discovered some interesting properties of the Island and we’re going to do something with it.
Later Oceanic 815 crashed and the place hasn’t been the same since. The island also seems to have some interesting magical or spiritual significance. There is a person or deity named Jacob on the island who lives there with some other type of deity who wants him dead. Jacob seems benevolent and involved in the lives of everyone from 815 but we’re still not sure of his role. Similar to Jacob there is a temple and some other ancient artifacts on the island that remind one of ancient Egypt.

Sayid – Straight Up Killer
Sayid (Naveen Andrews) is a nice guy who does not so nice things. Even though all of the characters on the show are complicated he certainly deserves a chapter unto himself. When you think about his character he represents a great deal of what is good. He is a loving, devoted partner and good friend willing to help out. On the other end, he will put a bullet through your temple or rip out your fingernails (ouch).
One of the best episodes was the one that explored how easy it is for him to take a life. For him, it started all the way back in childhood when he had to kill the chicken when the other boy couldn’t. From then on the tone was set for him. He seems somewhat reluctant to use his skills, but deep down he seems to have this sense that it is sometimes necessary.
I think what will be interesting is how the Island will judge him. Everyone seems to have some good or bad in them. He certainly wants to do the right thing. His methods may be suspect.

Jacob’s Enemy
Who is this joker? Everyone seems to think of him as the devil. Jacob seems to be trying to help people. Jacob was wearing white and this guy was wearing black.
Some bigger questions remain still. How did he take John Locke’s form? Why did he want to kill Jacob? What happens now that he has killed Jacob?
It seems that with all of the questions answered even more begin to pop up. It seems like we will need to wait till the next season to find out more.

At first we thought she was just out to get Sayid, but it would appear that she is involved much deeper in the story.
She came to the island under the pretense that she was capturing Sayid. Interesting that Sayid did not want to go back to the island yet he finds himself captured and heading there.
We later learn that she is involved with Jacob when he visits her in the hospital. Perhaps he was asking her to pick up Sayid. Further, she presents Locke’s dead body to Richard proving that dead is dead even on the island. It is not clear what her purpose is yet. Only that she seems to be on the side of Richard and Jacob. One of her fellow travellers mentioned that they were the good guys.
If there is anything that Lost has taught us is that the idea of good is a blurry line depending on who you are with that day. It looks like we’ll have to wait till next season to learn more about this character.

Jacob – Mystery Man

Who is this guy? There are all sorts of interesting biblical references to Jacob on this wiki site. At first I thought of him like the God and the devil. There is a reference to Jacob pulling his brother’s heel. Interesting that he lives in a giant statue of a heel.
In typical Lost fashion, I feel that introducing this character simply presents more questions than answers. Did you ever notice that no one answers questions on the show. No one seems to ever argue for answers, except Sawyer. They just accept and move on.
In the earlier scene they showed the sailship. That had to be hundreds of years ago. It makes you question just how old Jacob really is. Who was the other guy? Why did he visit all of the Oceanic travelers? Why did he give James a pen? Why is Sun’s marriage so special?
It would also seem that Locke is really dead. Also there is only one season of this show left. What are we going to do with the blog at the end of the season. Seriously, what am I going to write about. I’m looking for some good ideas here folks.
More on Jacob as the facts come in.

John Locke – Island Pimp
It is possible that John Locke is crazier than Hugo. It is also possible that he really does have some sort of crazy meta-physical connection with the island. He represents faith, intuition and blind devotion.
Earlier in his life these traits left him alone, trampled on and getting royally screwed over on a regular basis. If you remember, his dad stole his kidney then dumped him. He also worked at that crappy retail store where everyone made fun of him. On the island these traits have elevated him to super star status as the new leader of the others.
I found myself being a little more like Jack and completely prone to analytical thinking. John Locke has the ability to transcend logic and commune with some sort of higher power. I don’t know if that is a good thing or not.
Nonetheless, I want someone to seriously explain how this guy came back from the dead. I think Benjamin Linus said it best, “Dead is Dead”. I mean seriously dead the island magically blow fairy dust into his lungs. Did he do some wacky time traveling. What is the story? I need to know.

Jack used to be the island badass. Now he’s the island douchebag. The methodical and scientific Jack used to lead everyone on the island and had a genuine concern for getting everyone off of the island. Those same feelings drove him to get everyone back to the island.
Now that Jack is back on the island he has gone in to slacker mode. He has decided to hell with all of it and is going to blow up the island. I guess you could say that he is still altruistic in his core. His motive for blowing up the island is to save everyone.
There is still the lingering Kate and Juliette issue. It’s pretty obvious that Kate belongs with Sawyer and Juliette with Jack, but that seems pretty back ass wards right now. Who knows what will happen with the season finale.
I do like Jack’s tattoo and insane drive. Can’t argue with that.

Sawyer – All the ladies love him
Every time this devilish good looking guy shows up my wife gets weak in the knees. For that, I tip my hat to you good sir. Sawyer is the ultimate bad boy. He’s the guy your mother warned you about ladies. Even worse he will steal your heart and your wallet. Or has he reformed? When we first met this guy he rounded up all the guns and totally tried to go it alone. Somewhere along the way he found love and decided to get with the program. This season I think even some of the guys have decided that they like him.
In the 08/09 season he compared himself to Winston Churchill. Maybe a bit of a stretch, but I think Juliette has got this guy going in the right direction.
It’s a total shame that Kate showed up and started messing with his head. All I can say is Sawyer don’t do it. You got a good thing going with Juliette.

What do you get when you mix some deranged, brilliant, tent-living SOB mixed with daddy issues? Benjamin Linus. Even though this seems to be the guy everyone loves to hate I have to say I love this dork. He knows what he wants out of this life and isn’t afraid to grab it. He knows exactly what others want and how to give it to them while helping himself the entire time.
I thought the scene with him being judged by the island truly showed his character. He knew exactly why he made his choices and was willing to live with the outcome. Even if he knew the outcome would have been bad I don’t think he would have changed his mind.
He knows with certainty what he wants. I’m not sure what Locke will do with this guy. Still dangerous, but man I wish I had the gusto this guy does.
